General Cleaning Guideline for Cooker Hoods

Before you start cleaning a cooker hood, there are a few guidelines to consider and help you get ready to get the deed done.

Type of Cooker Hood Filters

There are 2 types of cooker hood filters that would need the most attention during the cleaning process. Your cooker hood will have one of these, so identify them and see if it needs cleaning or replacing. These are:

Metal Filter

Metal filters are great at trapping grease as you are cooking, while the exhaust fan helps remove cooking smoke and odors. These filters need to be cleaned every three to four months. If left uncleaned for too long, it will affect your cooker hood’s performance.

Carbon Filter

The carbon filter absorbs grease and moisture while cooking, removing the bad smells and odors in the kitchen. Most of the recirculation type of cooker hoods are equipped with a carbon filter which must be replaced every four months. *

*Please refer to product manual or check on the best replacement filter & period that is specified by the manufacturer.
